The Michigan Municipal League Foundation seeks to encourage youth involvement in communities and training of local elected officials. We offer the following scholarships:

scholarships1The John Barr Leadership Education Scholarship offers five yearly one-time scholarships of up to $1,000 for training that provides local elected and appointed officials the knowledge and skills they need to lead and govern their communities. The training may not be partisan.

The Timothy Doyle Scholarship Fund helps train newly elected local officials by sending them to the Elected Official Academy’s Core Weekender in February and May.

The George and Judith Goodman Scholarship Fund helps to encourage more people – especially women and people of color – to be involved and interested in local government. Michigan high school or college students pursuing a career in local government through a public policy or public administration undergraduate or graduate degree may apply for one yearly scholarship.
